Pilgrimage to Walsingham 2019
A Journey
It may seem obvious to say this but a pilgrimage is always undertaken by people. So, here we are, most of the group who travelled together on this pilgrimage:
Our pilgrimage was by road:
Just as life can some times be affected by dark clouds, so also can the journey of a pilgrimage. Although God is with us each and every day, this does not stop us encountering troubles and hold-ups. We did on our pilgrimage as well:
Travelling is hungry work. So we had stops at various motorway services:
The Destination
All journeys eventually end at a destination. For us, it was here:
And when we got to our destination, we found our rooms:
They are simple, welcoming, warm and restful. Ours all had en suite facilities, too, and the views from our windows were also pretty good:
Pilgrimage and Life
Going on a pilgrimage gives the pilgrim time away from the ordinary affairs of everyday life. It is an opportunity to think about where our lives are going:
Sometimes our time for reflection leads us to realise our lives are not going in the right direction:
We may have to face some difficult truths about ourselves and our life with God:
The reflections of a pilgrimage can also reveal to us good and positive things about our life with God, bright vistas that lighten our hearts and bring us peace:
Our Fellow Pilgrims
We often learn a good deal from our fellow travellers, especially in the pub!
But also in other places, too; such as up a windmill..........!
And then we come home .......
All pilgrimages come to an end eventually. Our's was over all too soon; but not until we got back to Kingsteignton, as the travelling is all part of the journey:
A Pilgrimage is a time for ......
Reflection
Quiet
Rest
Honesty
Exercise
All done in the company of Our Lord and with the aid of Blessed Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham, his Mother and ours .......
