Mothers' Union

The Mothers' Union is a Christian charity that works throughout the world seeking to show the Christian faith in action.

The Mothers' Union works with people of all faiths, theistic, non-theistic and atheistic, in 83 countries.  It seeks to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through prayer, enabling and campaigning.

The Mothers' Union actively supports families and communities both in the UK and around the world.

It was established in 1876, when Mary Sumner first brought together parents in her own parish to help them to grow in confidence in bringing up their children in the Christian faith.  Since then it has grown to a membership of over 4 million across the world.

Members try to bring hope and practical support to many millions of people around the world.  They do this through Mothers' Union parenting, literacy and community development programmes and through its members being active parts of the volunteer base of local churches.
