The Mothers' Union is a Christian charity that works throughout the world seeking to show the Christian faith in action and actively supports families and communities both in the UK and around the world. The Mothers' Union works with people of all faiths, theistic, non-theistic and atheistic, in 83 countries. It seeks to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through prayer, enabling and campaigning.
It was established in 1876, when Mary Sumner first brought together parents in her own parish to help them to grow in confidence in bringing up their children in the Christian faith. Since then it has grown to a membership of over 4 million across the world.
Members try to bring hope and practical support to many millions of people around the world. They do this through Mothers' Union parenting, literacy and community development programs and through its members being active parts of the volunteer base of local churches.

Our branch of the Mothers' Union has been in existence for well over 100 years. We have a monthly meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, starting at 2.15pm in St Michael's Church Hall, Chudleigh Road. We generally have a guest speaker plus a small book stall selling paperbacks. A couple of times a year we have a Bring and Buy stall with the proceeds going towards a particular fundraising. There is an entry fee to the meetings for non-members of £1.50 which covers refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits).

We also hold a monthly Communion Services at St Michael's Church Kingsteignton on the 1st Monday of the month starting at 10.30am. The service is followed by tea and coffee and a bit of a get together.
All are welcome to join us for our meeting and Communion Service. Upcoming events will be posted on the What's On page of this website.
We have a long running relationship with Wakisa Ministries charity in Uganda. The charity supports teanage girls navigating unplanned pregnancies in Wakisa, Uganda. We collect donations of hand knitted baby clothing, knitted and crocheted squares for blankets and new baby clothes, and send them directly to the charity in Uganda.

More information about the Wakisa Ministries can be found here.
